Cub Scouting - Scouting America
Cub Scouting is where adventure begins! For youth in kindergarten through fifth grade, Cub Scouting provides fun activities, character development, and outdoor adventures that help build confidence and create lasting memories. The six focus areas are:

We don't wrap the kids in bubble wrap or make them wear hard hats 👷, but we make sure they know when and what safety gear is needed. Scouting teaches the buddy system 👬 and first aid 🌡️🩹, expanding their knowledge each year with age-appropriate information.

Citizenship
Cub Scouts teaches citizenship through age-appropriate activities that instill values like respect, responsibility, and service to others within their families, communities, and the nation. Cub Scouts learn about respecting national symbols, participating in community service, and understanding the roles and responsibilities of citizens.

Personal Fitness
It's tough being a kid - growth spurts and awkward movements!
Scouting helps with healthy choices for growing bodies! We don't expect your child to eat only salad 🥗 and water 💧 - we simply encourage choosing the 🍎 over the 🍩.
We have FUN with exercise 🤸 so the kids, and adults, actually enjoy it!

We don't teach your family what to believe, but we encourage each Scout to be faithful to their religious duties and respect the beliefs of others. This gives families an opportunity to discuss their own beliefs, spiritual development, and the importance of respecting others.

Meet your local unit!
We are blessed with options in South Bartow! You, as a parent, should decide what works best for your family.
All units teach the same Scouting ideals, and these units participate in many of the same major activities, often together.
You can even move between units if needed. Football a problem in the fall, but you want to keep your spring weekends open? You can!

What does Scouting Cost?
Comparable to the cost of soccer or baseball, Scouting offers a year-round experience that closely matches the school calendar.
The cost provides a safe meeting space where children can make friends and learn skills, plus access to monthly events and activities.
Most importantly, you join one of the most successful youth organizations in the world. The World Organization of the Scout Movement recognizes Scouting programs in more than 200 countries and territories.

National Fee - $85
This fee covers national Scouting America costs, including insurance for Scouting activities. It is an annual charge renewed online each year during the month you first joined Scouts.

Local Pack Dues - $60
This money helps pay for awards 🎖️🏆 and activities in which your child participates. Local units do not receive any portion of the national fee.

Camping and Food
Each campout will have a cost. Camping is optional, but it is a major part of Scouting, so try to attend! We keep costs as low as possible.

Special Events

Events like the Pinewood Derby or Blue and Gold Banquet may have optional costs. Our goal is to keep those costs to an absolute minimum.

Financial Aid
Our council offers assistance to help families join Scouts. Assistance may help with the national fee, although it may not cover awards, outings, or food.

Powered by Popcorn!
Need to fundraise? We offer fall and spring fundraisers. In the fall we sell popcorn 🍿, and in the spring we sell coupon cards. With a few weekends of fundraising, families can help pay for Scouting activities.

Do I need to get a uniform?
Eventually. We have loaner uniforms for children to wear for important events. Children grow out of uniforms quickly, so buying used is a great option. We also have a page with more information: Uniform Information.
What is a council?
We are part of the Northwest Georgia Council, meaning we generally participate in activities in and around northwest Georgia.
What is a district?
We are part of the Etowah District. Many of the units we work alongside are located near the Etowah River.
